FAQs

Do you take insurance?

If you have PPO insurance and would like to use my services as an Out Of Network provider, I can provide you with a superbill for your insurance company. They may cover a portion of the cost. I would recommend calling your insurance company to check your benefits and ask the following:

  1. What are my mental health benefits?

  2. What is my deductible and how much of it has been met?

  3. What is the reimbursement rate to work with an out-of-network provider?

I currently accept Optum and Aetna in my private practice. I bill these insurance companies via Alma which is where co-pays are paid by clients. Check your share of cost at Alma

Do I have to have a certain amount of sessions?

The amount of sessions you have is entirely up to you. I recommend that you start off with weekly sessions and then move to bi-weekly as distressing symptoms decrease.

For EMDR therapy it is beneficial to be able to commit to at least 12 sessions as we will be working towards starting reprocessing in the initial sessions (assessment, discovering negative cognitions, building resources to tolerate processing) and it often takes more than one processing session to reduce distress on a target memory to a 0.

What length of sessions should I choose?

Some people prefer the longer length of a 90-minute session because it can take time to warm up in order to process uncomfortable emotions and address current struggles while leaving space for progress on other therapeutic goals.

EMDR work also benefits from longer sessions in that it can take time to process through a target memory and it can be frustrating to have to cut short a reprocessing session because we ran out of time. I find that a 90-minute session provides ample time to check in about current issues, reprocess a memory, and get recalibrated back to the present time.

What therapeutic methods do you use?

I utilize Solutions Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Parts work, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). How we focus your treatment plan will be decided based on your feedback about what kind of goals you have, the severity and type of symptoms, and your unique situation.

Transitions are almost always signs of growth, but they can bring feelings of loss. To get somewhere new, we may have to leave somewhere else behind.
